The only limitations are the ones you set for yourself
If you ask scientists what slows ageing you’ll get answers like eating better and even less managing chronic stress getting enough sleep not sitting too much exercise.
I believe that limits were illusory when that’s the lens that you’re looking at the world truth something happens. Turns out that the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves matter a whole lot and even the way we think about ageing itself matters. A psychologist at Yale analyse data from hundreds of American seniors collected over 25 years and what she found was that the ones who had kind of drunk the cultural who believe the messages coming out of their TV sets that youth reigns supreme and beyond 75 or so.
We all fade into daughter irrelevance those people tended to become weak and frail at a faster than average rate whereas those who had a more positive view of ageing if we thought that growing older is nothing to fear and actually had a lot of upsides. Those people lived 7 1/2 years longer on average than the ones who kind of rude their lost youth. Over at Harvard, psychologist Ellen Langarsh has spent almost four decades studying something called youth crimes, and a youth crime is anything that makes you feel young.
What Ellen found is that people exposed to youth primes scored better on a whole host of physiological measures. Their vision improves their hearing, improves things like grip strength and working memory improved.
The upshot is if you really believe if you can find a way to believe that you’re stronger and faster and sharper and nimbler than your birth certificate says you should be, if you really find a way to buy into that, your body recalibrates. Ellen’s work always makes me think of all of them because what Joan and Bob and so many others did so ingeniously, was she put herself in the middle of a whole lot of youth crimes. Every time she stepped on the track I found out first hand how this works 3 1/2 years ago that’s when Ellen when Bob inspired me to kind of put down my pen and go deeper into the report, discovering.
Faith, Believes, Purpose. These are the Almighty Forces.
The measure which I think maybe why they don’t get the attention of the other health metrics but don’t underestimate them everybody likes to talk about lucky genes but in terms of his power to shape your life.
I’m going to tell you about how I did in my race. I came almost dead last in my race but I don’t remember the humiliation and I don’t remember the pain of that race but I remember is Olga reaching up she’s barely 5 feet tall and clamping a hand on my shoulder kind of pulling me in and say I am so proud of you.
The idea of super flourishing just living the life you have. Although it was my youth crime James Dean did out here, at 95 leaving nothing undone and nothing undreamed and this is what all should we do.
You are Never Too Old to Dance on Tables.
Like yesterday I’ve finished high school. And I deeply want to dance on the table. My grandma said” ohhh you’re too old to dance on a table”
Hey, cramps…. it was my 18th birthday in never too old to dance on tables so I got mom to throw away the shackles and let loose dance like you never danced before point and what age does it become inappropriate to do something and who decides whether you are too old and all. I’ve never got a skydive. But now I have put it on my list and this is the 1st thing I will do on my vacation in 2022.
If you hope you do experiences and adventures on that list, don’t have a time limit that set they can be ticked off from the day you make the list until the day.
The oldest person ever to do a skydive is 101 years old. Was he told to skydive obviously not and did not think about the danger that is too old to do something. Imagine if every time you wanted to do anything we wanted to do, got told to go skiing for the first time, fancy going skinny dipping, play tool for that. What about learning to play the piano. I let Marie explain in the artist’s way which is one of my favourite books by Julia Cameron she writes question do you know how old I will be by the time I learn to play the piano answer the same age will be if you don’t
How about flying to Japan dressing up in a Unicorn onesie like Dave and eating Unicorn cupcakes. The world is a very different place from what it was 10- 20-30 years ago I’m the queen and I won’t bottoms in Britain, the world is more accessible things deemed impossible are now possible.
Complete That Bucket List and Live Life to the Fullest.
To everyone: if your glass is half full, keep exploring, keep learning and flip the bird societal age stereotypes not to alter and visit new places. You are not too old to learn new skills, you are not too old to drive around Japan in a Go-Kart, you’re not too old to try something you have never done, you’re not too old to get married.
Seems silly to be getting married they have said and is setting through that remove zone is repeated. It doesn’t matter what other people think, dance whenever you want to dance the naysayers GTF remember age is just a number
